About the Client: The Ronald McDonald House is a nationwide nonprofit organization with two locations in Indianapolis, one in Riley Hospital and one on Limestone. The House provides a home for families with children in local hospitals. Their mission statement is “We provide a supportive home-away-from-home for families of children receiving medical care at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health and other area hospitals, and we champion programs that improve the health, education and well-being of children.” Volunteers can provide meals for families or do service work in the House. About the project: The Ronald McDonald House has several loyal, consistent volunteers as well as occasional volunteers that provide meals and perform service work in the House. In order to organize volunteering events, a string of emails must be sent back and forth as there is no automated web application to do this. Our job is to create this web application to make organizing volunteer events easier as well as make a volunteer database for the service volunteers.
